Our international relationships.

The Georgian Diabetes Foundation has been actively involved in events organized by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the European Diabetes Association (EASD) since 1993. The presence of our doctors and researchers in the international arena is of great importance. Over the last twenty years, we have participated and introduced to the world Georgia's achievements in the treatment and organization of children with diabetes. As mentioned above, our scientific reports have received a great deal of attention from specialists, and these assessments have in some cases been reflected in the resolution part of congresses and conferences. The Foundation will continue to actively promote the professional development of its staff, which is directly related to the provision of highly qualified care to diabetic patients. In addition to participating in international scientific conferences and congresses since its inception, we have been actively collaborating with diabetes associations and federations in many countries around the world. This collaboration includes sharing experiences as well as holding various joint events. Our first international joint event was held with Americans. This was a diabetic camp set up in the US state of Missouri. About twenty Georgian diabetic children and adolescents took part in Colombia. This project continued successfully in the following years, and the Georgian Diabetes Foundation and the American humanitarian organization ECT-Georgia held an annual summer diabetic camp for children and adolescents in Bakuriani, Camping "Green Valley", until it was alienated by the state, which resulted in this unique Complete Destruction.
One of the first foreign diabetic organizations with whom we established a connection was in 1993 in France. Nantes Regional Diabetes Association. We were later officially invited by the French Diabetes Association to Paris, where a multi-year memorandum of understanding was signed between our organizations. In 1998, the President of the International Diabetes Federation, Maria de Alva, arrived in Georgia at the invitation of the Association. He visited our construction center, got acquainted with our work and gave it a high rating. The IDF President met with the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Z. Zhvania and other state-political officials, as well as representatives of diabetic non-governmental organizations. We have similar friendly cooperation with Spain, Italy, Egypt, Denmark, USA, Great Britain, Austria, Greece, Sweden, Germany, India, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Holland, Bulgaria, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Latvia, Lithuania, , With diabetes associations of Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and other countries. Delegations and honorary guests from these countries often came to the center, both for introductory visits and to participate in various events organized by us (training - scientific seminars, symposia, conferences, etc.). It was with the support of these and other countries that the Georgian Diabetes Foundation became a member of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Membership was preceded by the granting of the status of a candidate for membership of our Foundation Federation in September 2015, which was followed by a subsequent meeting on November 30, 2015, in St. Petersburg. At the General Assembly meeting in Vancouver (Canada), our admission as the 233rd full member of the Federation - with the right to vote. In addition to the support of the delegations of the above-mentioned countries, a special mention should be made of the President of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Professor Shaukat Sadikot, and the President of the European Region of the same organization (IDF EUROPA), Professor Sekhnaz Karadeniz. They visited the Diabetic Children 's Center a few months before the election, carefully reviewed even the smallest details of our work, and offered their unconditional support for our membership as we left.
Accepting IDF as a member of the Georgian Diabetes Foundation, the World Diabetes Society praised our 25 - year work. Prior to that, the federation had not joined any organization from one country to another, thus setting the first precedent for further expansion of the IDF, which is of great importance in the fight against diabetes.

2018 In April, the IDF President visited the Center for Diabetic Children. Prof. Nam cho. He got acquainted with the rehabilitation, training and medical activities of the center, as well as the research laboratory and gave them the highest marks. For his contribution to the world of diabetics, Prof. Nam Cho, was awarded the Honorary Gold Medal.
